Sanjay Kapur, a well-known Indian businessman and former husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, died in England on June 12. He was 53. Author and columnist Suhel Seth confirmed the news on social media, saying, “Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar. Om Shanti.”

Sanjay Kapur Death Reason

Kapur is believed to have suffered a heart attack while playing polo. Some reports also suggest he may have accidentally swallowed a bee during the game, which could have contributed to his death.

Who was Sanjay Kapur?

Sanjay Kapur was the Chairman of Sona Comstar, a global supplier of automotive technology, including components for electric and conventional vehicles. He was also the President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA). He was the son of Dr. Surinder Kapur, founder of the Sona Group.


Sanjay Kapur was Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband

Sanjay Kapur married actor Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple divorced in 2016. They had two children together — Samaira and Kiaan. Kapur was occasionally seen with his children in Mumbai after the separation. He later married Priya Sachdev, a former model and entrepreneur. The couple had a son, Azarias, in 2018.

After news of his death became public, Karisma Kapoor's sister Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband Saif Ali Khan were seen arriving at Karisma’s residence in Mumbai.

Some of Sunjay Kapur's final social media posts have gone viral since his passing. Just hours before his death, he posted a message about the Air India crash in Ahmedabad: “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. 🙏 #planecrash.”

In another post, he wrote, “Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the ‘what ifs’ to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the ‘why nots’.”
